An interview with Matt Manthey: Pavement Management Supervisor, City of Mesa, Arizona
“We’re out here today, outside of Falcon Field, we’re going to be demoing GSB-88®.
It’s a pavement preservation treatment. Why are we doing it? Why do we care about preserving our roads? Our roads are our largest assets that we have. In Mesa alone, I have 2 billion dollars of asphalt roads that we have to maintain. That’s 36 million square yards of asphalt. And I try to get t
A Road Comparison:
Two roads were paved in 2017. The first Road was sealed with GSB-88® within a month or so of it being paved. The second Road was paved, then left unsealed. Both Roads were routinely checked for decay. 2 years later, the difference is impressive! The first Road sealed with GSB-88® still looks Great, while the second Road, left unsealed, is showing clear signs of decay—the top coat is wearing away exposing loose aggregates. The County Engineer (Marion Co.)
It's a busy road construction season, and things can become unpredictable and messy quickly. Now, adding the expense of clean-up; machines, additional crew and disposal all-combined—inflate the total job cost. And, there may not have been much wiggle room in the Budget!
But, with GSB-88® the amount of product you need to keep your Good Pavements in Good Condition is predictable and the results are quantifiable with EVERY easy application. GSB-88® is proven to halt oxidation
You may hope this street is on this year’s “fix-it” list, but with dwindling budgets, other lengthy street repair and costly total reconstruction projects, this Poor Condition street might not have made the list! How important should this be to you?
Extremely! In a 2016 report, the American Society of Civil Engineers stated, “Deteriorating conditions and performance impose costs on American house-holds and businesses in a number of ways. Facilities in poor condition lead to
"We greatly look forward to continuing work with Gee Asphalt Inc. and would highly recommend them to any county interested in using their product." This past summer the Berrien County Road Department contracted Gee Asphalt Inc. to treat approximately six miles of roadway with GSB-88®. The BCRD had been searching for a product like this for several years to use as an alternative to our standard sealcoat process. After this trial run with Gee Asphalt, we have determined GSB-88®

“Complements to your Lincoln, NE crew!"
"…Following the A St. incident, James at Lincoln Roads put me in touch with Myles and, after some uncertainty about available time, we were able to connect. Myles and his two guys, Will and Clifford, were cordial and went out of their way to get my vehicle cleaned up. Sparkles plenty now! My thanks to them and you for doing things the way we wish others would. Great example of how
This 2003 e-mail about GSB® performance, written by an industry expert, is just as relevant today as it was then! From: Peter Sebaaly Sent: 1/ 22/2003 To: Dan Gee Subject: Preventive Maintenance Dan, …for your meeting with the Iowa Highway Research Board. The first thing you want to do is to educate those in charge that preventive maintenance is the best way to keep up with their pavement system. Preventive maintenance means that you do something to the pavement before you st
Why did the Gee Seal Change? For the observant among you, the math doesn’t add up. We seemed to go from “In Business for 44+ Yrs” to “Est. 1950”. The explanation is an easy one. While the company name “Gee Asphalt Systems was launched in 1973, it rose up on the stable foundation of Gee Grading & Excavating, est. in 1950 by Albert Gee. It was through the daily work of Gee Grading & Excavating, Albert became aware of the growing health and environmental concerns associated with

What’s IT About?
Peanut-butter vs. Butter Typical sealcoats lay up on the surface much like peanut-butter sits on top of bread. These coatings do not penetrate into the matrix and therefore performance is tied directly to how much is left on top to protect the binder. So, once the surface erodes away, the binder that holds your pavement together is exposed to the elements. Even if you patch the damage, the structural break-down continues; water and seepage expand and contract
